Music is one of the most personal things about a person. The songs someone listens to can tell you a lot about them. I’ve always thought these daily song challenges were interesting but an Instagram post on some of my favorite songs feels insufficient. So I’m writing about them instead. Thank you for reading.

If you invite me to your wedding, there is a non-zero chance I am requesting this song at some point during the reception.

What I have always enjoyed about this song and album is how it fits into David Bowie’s career. Let’s Dance falls after Scary Monsters… and the Berlin trilogy and from all accounts, brought Bowie back into the mainstream.

The story of Bowie recruiting Stevie Ray Vaughan to play lead guitar on the record. Bowie apparently heard Vaughan and Double Trouble on the radio and knew he wanted him on his next album. Vaughan may have even joined Bowie’s band but Bowie did not want the rest of his band. Nonetheless, Nile Rodgers and Vaughan make a great tandem on this record.

It’s also a fun song, so I’m absolutely requesting this song any time I get the chance.
